Office: will give an overview of the High
Court's recent decision in CPCF v Minister for
Immigration and Border Protection
[2015] HCA 1. Of particular interest, and consequently the main
focus of the presentation, is the discussion of the non-statutory
executive power of the Commonwealth by some of the judges - Dr Murray Wesson, Senior
Lecturer, UWA Law School will
provide an analysis of the High Court’s decision in Tajjour v State of New
South Wales [2014] HCA 35
and consider the implications of the decision for the future development
of the implied freedom of political communication.
